Tom Rimshot Two artists I never thought I'd see working together, making a case for one of the year's best ambient recordings. Both Tagg's gentle restraint and Daniel's foggy drifting are present, complementing each other in a lavish and picturesque fashion. Soft music made all the softer by a paint-smeared tape, ready for dim evenings in even dimmer bedrooms.

about

'Midnight Cloud' is a collaborative album between contemporary ambient artists David Tagg and John Daniel (aka Forest Management). A veteran musician who has been quietly issuing his luminous guitar-based works in the underground sphere since 2007, Tagg recently relocated himself and his family to Georgia from his longtime home of Upstate New York. A weekend trip to rural Missouri took Daniel out of his usual busy Chicago environment, leading him to contact the guitarist he often listened to in college.

An honest, sober, and fairly unpolished exchange between the two resulted in the material for Midnight Cloud - Tagg's twilight-soaked guitar sent through multiple processing patches normally reserved for Forest Management. A long-distant conversation, a step outside, listening closer to the sounds coming from the backwoods.
